A question, a home that didn't come through right, or an idea? Just write to us. If it's about a home, include the listing's link.
On the iPhone
How do I share a home with Fazer Contas?
Open the listing on the property site or its app, tap Share (the square with the arrow pointing up) and choose Fazer Contas. In a few seconds, what the home costs a month and on signing day appears.
A screenshot of the listing works too, and so does a page of search results: there, choose the homes to see, up to six at a time.
Fazer Contas doesn't show up when I tap Share.
In the row of apps, swipe to the end and tap “More”. Then tap the green “+” next to Fazer Contas to add it to favourites: next time it shows up at the start.
Is the app in English?
Yes. The language is chosen in “My details”, under “Language”: Português or English. Until a choice is made, the app follows the iPhone's language.
Does it work on Android?
The app, for now, is only for the iPhone. On a computer, the computer page can be used, with or without a phone.
On the computer
How do I use Fazer Contas on the computer?
Open fazercontas.com/web in Chrome on the computer. The page is in Portuguese only. This only needs doing once: in “Vi uma casa num site” (“I saw a home on a website”), drag the “Guardar no Fazer Contas” button (“Save to Fazer Contas”) to the bookmarks bar. If the bar isn't showing, ⌘ ⇧ B shows it on a Mac, or Ctrl Shift B on Windows.
Then, with a home's listing open on a property website, just click the button: the home comes to the Fazer Contas page, with the numbers already done, and is kept on that computer.
Why isn't pasting the listing's link enough?
It's the button that reads the listing, on the property site's page, like Share on the iPhone. That way the home comes straight to the Fazer Contas page, without going through any server.
How do I see the iPhone's homes on the computer?
On the computer page, click “Ligar ao meu iPhone” (“Link my iPhone”) and then “Mostrar o código” (“Show the code”). In the app, in “My homes”, tap “See these homes on the computer” and then “Scan the code”, and point the camera at the code.
From then on, the homes and “My details” stay the same on both sides, and pass from one to the other encrypted.
Can I use it on a phone, without the app?
The computer page was made for a large screen, and the button that saves the homes only works in Chrome on a computer. On a phone, the way is the app.
The numbers
A home arrived with a wrong or missing detail.
Open the home and go to “Home details”. There, correct what was read from the listing, and the numbers update. If the listing's link reaches us, we can see why the reading failed.
Where do the numbers come from?
From the official tables (Portal das Finanças and Casa Pronta), the Banco de Portugal and INE, and from estimates. On each line, the app and the computer page say whether the value is exact, calculated or estimated, and where it comes from.
Are the numbers exact?
IMT, stamp duty and the deed are exact. The payment depends on the chosen mortgage. Condo fees, insurance, maintenance and IMI are estimates until the home's actual figures are known.
The numbers are there to help decide. They're not a mortgage offer: the bank decides.
I'm 35 or under. What changes?
On a first home to live in, IMT Jovem can exempt the purchase from IMT and stamp duty, and with the state guarantee the bank can lend up to 100% of the price, on homes up to €450,000 and for contracts signed by the end of 2026. Switch on the ones that apply in “My details”: we can't check the conditions. With the age given, the answer to “What home can I buy today?” shows what each one changes.
I've never been tax resident in Portugal.
Switch on “I've never been tax resident in Portugal” in “My details”. The numbers then use the 7.5% IMT the law sets for these buyers, without IMT Jovem.
The data
Do I need an account?
No. Neither the app nor the computer page has an account or sign-up, and neither asks for a name or phone number. An email address is only asked for in “Write to us”, in the app, for the reply, and even there it's optional.
How do I delete my details?
What's typed stays on the phone, or on the computer where it was typed, and each value is changed in “My details”. To delete a home: “Remove homes”, in “My homes”, then “Remove”.
To delete everything: on the iPhone, delete the app; on the computer, delete the data for fazercontas.com in the browser's settings. More in the privacy policy.
